Hog Alert! Stuart lands 16-17 lb Bone
Montana guide Stuart Dominick landed an monster in skinny water.
I find that the Hawaiian bones found tailing in skinny water are the hardest to catch. They are extremely skiddish. Many times they will continue to feed but constantly moving away from you out of casting range. If you get in position to make a cast the difficulties persist. Cast to close and the fish is gone. Cast too far and the fish never sees the fly and they seem to be very focused on a small area. Fly is to heavy fish is gone….
In this case Stuart must have done something right. This fish was hooked and landed in skinny water in flat conditions. AKA the hardest of the skinny water conditions. A little breeze put some chop on the water making the fish feel a tiny bit safer.
Congratulations Stuart! This is the largest Molokai bonefish I have seen brought to hand. Y
